Kindle Covers for Kindle Touch and Kindle
Kindle Cover with Light
This is the cover to get if you like reading at night. Perfect for those that don’t want to bother their partner’s sleep with a normal light, the light runs off of your Kindle’s battery (without draining it quickly) and is seamlessly incorporated into the design of the cover. The negative is that this doesn’t have a way to keep it closed, and some complained of “cheap materials.” In my research however, some confuse cheap materials with what are actually lightweight materials (very important for a cover) and seemed to expect a thick leather case which would have added bulk and weight. Marware Atlas Kindle Cover
The Marware Atlas Kindle cover is the top selling cover on Amazon. The reviews generally praise the fabric exterior which feels like a hardcover book, and they like the style that the leather trim pieces add. The one complaint is that this one fits the Kindle Touch a little better than the smaller regular Kindle, so just be aware of that if you think it might be an issue for you. Available at Amazon here

Lighted Kindle Covers
With over 90% of reviews being 4 or 5-stars, this is about as sure-fire as it gets for a quality Kindle cover with light. It’s been out long enough that people have had a chance to use it for 6+ months, and the reports are that these hold up well to frequent use–the leather is high quality, and the elastic straps retain their function. Of the negative reviews, some complained that the light does not evenly light the screen, but the other 90+% of users say it works very well, even for fussy users. Available at Amazon here
Kindle Cover Without Light
For those of you who don’t need or want the light, this is Amazon’s updated leather cover. Owners praise that it just “disappears” and you don’t notice it at all while reading because of its light weight and easily folded-back cover. This makes reading with one hand a breeze and owners say the weight of the Kindle with the cover is similar to a medium-sized paperback book. The handful of negative reviews (less than 5% of total reviews) mention a problem with the older design causing issues with the Kindle hardware, however these problems appear to have been corrected with the new updated cover design with the gold-plated connector tabs. Marware Latitude Kindle Cover
This Kindle cover is a great option for those of you who need some extra storage and/or need the security provided by a zipper enclosure. It’s a nice canvas outer material with a soft fleece inner liner. It also is able to fold back and be zipped open for one-handed reading. This is a good way to go if you’re going to be near a pool or other area where water and sand might be an issue if you had a non-zippered cover. There really aren’t any valid negative reviews, so it’s a definitely a high quality Kindle cover. Pictured above with optional light attachment, and available at Amazon here
Kindle Cover with Stand
The Acase Kindle cover with stand is great for those that might use it to read recipes while cooking, or if you’re at a desk and don’t want to lean over to read (good necksaver!). This is another one that really doesn’t have any valid negative reviews, so it’s a good safe bet for a high quality cover. Available at Amazon here

Kindle Covers and Kindle Cases
No matter whether you call it a case or a cover, they’re the same thing: protection and style for your Kindle. A scratched screen makes reading your Kindle less enjoyable (or impossible!) so it’s important to have some kind of protection for it, whether that’s a cover, a case, or a sleeve, make sure you have something protecting the screen whenever there’s a chance it could get scratched if nothing is covering it.
One great benefit of a nice cover is that it can make a great conversation starter if you’re reading and others are around you. A quick complement on your case leads into an interesting conversation about what you’re reading, and then your coffee shop trip has turned into a memorable day.
As of early December, covers for the new Kindle Touch are a little harder to find, but we’ll be adding more to the site as we find ones that have favorable reviews. Eventually we want to have a good selection of the best Kindle covers and cheap Kindle covers to suit any taste.
